A Life Reclaimed

End of month 1.  Lost a total of 12.2 lbs.  Stoked.  I stalled out around 9.8 lbs for like a week and a half.  It was very frustrating.  Now on to month 2.  Want to do as well if not better. 

Awesome stuff has started happening.  2 weeks ago I joined a Crossfit like class at the gym I go to.  It’s an hour long class on MWF.  So far I’ve lost 9 lbs.  Also I gave up fast food (self defined at the burger and taco places), which I’m sure has helped.  I’m hoping that 2013 is a awesome year of change for me.  I’ll get my degree in May and hopefully get in shape for the first time ever.

This list is not exclusive to albums released this year.  Just to music I’ve been jamming a lot this year. 

4) OFF!  “OFF!” (and the only debatable one about how much it deserves to be on this list.  But it’s so good it’s going on anyways.)

Keith Morris from Black Flag/Cirlce Jerks fame started a new band a few years ago.  They released “OFF!” this year and it’s a solid record.  It’s lofi and full of awesome old punk riffs. 

3)  End of a Year/Self Defense Family

This band does such a great job at capturing melody and angularity inside everything that I love about bands from the early 90’s Dischord Records era.  I haven’t so much been listening to a single release as I have been watching every video I can find of them.

2) Screaming Females “Ugly”

Total 90’s throwback.  Riffs and loud vocals.  Great band.  I saw them twice last year.  Seriously my favorite album from last year.

1) Melvins “Houdini”

Even though this was released in 1993 I just started listening to it this year and I must say it’s ushered in an obsession with this band. 

I recently found myself wanting a nice pair of winter boots that will last me for…well…the rest of my life.  Then I found these.  Not sure how they fit into my general late 90’s, early 2000’s flannel wearing, post-hardcore fashion sense.  But they sure are awesome looking. 

Nothing to do with my tumblr but I needed to rant. I have very few old friends. They get older and become hermits and never want to do anything. I get older and want to do so much I can’t fit it all in. Then you see them and they are all “hey, let’s hang out!” And then I’m all “no! You never make it out to hang. I’m not inviting you anymore. So lets just cut the bullshit here.” I miss some of them. But they grow fewer and fewer that I miss every year.

It annoys the shit out of me when I go to a tumblr page and I have to hear the person’s terrible taste in music.  If I wanted to hear music while looking at your page then I would open iTunes and play music I wanted to hear.

What’s up everyone?  How bad of a tumlbr-er have I been?  School has been taking a ton of time and I haven’t been able to run more than once a week for the past few weeks.  This week I have a goal to go out at least 3 times.  Wish me luck. 

Running.  My running is OK.  But because of the stresses of school I don’t have the time to do it as much as I’d like.  Right now I can only get out 2-3 times a week.  So I’m not making much progress.  But I’m not really losing ground either.
